My Mamaw, Ruby Hill, passed away on January 1st of this year due to heart disease. So as soon as my mom pulled the information packet out of my backpack and explained to me what the Jump Rope for Heart program was all about, I asked if I could jump for Mamaw. Of course she said yes…and that she thought Mamaw would be proud!

I am excited about participating in the American Heart Association’s Jump Rope For Heart event at my school. I will be jumping rope to help the American Heart Association raise money to fight heart disease and stroke. Can you please help me by making a donation that will help save lives?

The American Heart Association’s online fundraising website has a minimum donation amount of $25.00. If you want to donate less, that’s ok. You can just send the check right to me and I’ll make sure the American Heart Association gets it.

And if you are employed, you can also find out which companies will match donations to the American Heart association by visiting www.matchinggifts.com/aha. This is a great way to increase our donations to the American Heart Association. All matching gift forms should include my name and school name so the donations can be properly designated.

The American Heart Association is a 501(c)3 organization which all donations to Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart are tax deductible. Everyone that makes an on-line contribution will instantly receive a confirmation e-mail that includes the amount donated along with the American Heart Association’s Federal Tax ID #.

Anyhow I got an email from the Director of the group and just passing this along for anyone who can donate any amount.

Tuesday January 13th, I received a call informing me that an Italian
Greyhound (DUKE) had broken both of his front legs. His owners were at the
vet when I spoke to them, they were unable to afford to fix his legs and
unless our rescue took Duke in they would be left with no choice but to put
him to sleep.

Needless to say, by 1:15 pm they were at my house dropping him off and
turning him into rescue. His owners were doing what was best for DUKE and
wanted him to be able to be a happy dog again…which he will be!

At 2 pm, I had DUKE at our surgeons office. At 2:30 pm he was in surgery and
did not come out until 5 pm. When it was all said and done, he had to have
both of his legs plated to the tune of $2, 524.55.

So, this is why I am writing you to ask you to please open your hearts to
this sweet little boy who just turned a year old in December. This was a
very expensive surgery and we are in need of any donations. Please remember
that any donation you make is tax deductible.

Money goes directly to Texas Italian Greyhound Rescue.

Robin called me the other day to change the adoption fee from $250.00 to $300.00. I wasn’t able to get to it until today when I found out we did 2 adoptions for the $250.00 because it was still posted on the web site.
I apologize for the delay but said I’d make it up. (and yes $ I am.)
So what I’m asking is a small donation to make up the $100.00.
I have over 100 followers on Twitter and as many on MySpace. If you can’t donate, re-tweet this or link to it on your site. I’m not some Internet celebrity but just hoping to see some small donations to help out a worthy organization. Obviously times are tough and any donation would help. If I can even get $100.00 I’ll post that we’ve reached our goal. That’s it. I just want to help further, plus, I’m just hoping to get the word out about this local group and the breed.
