My Scott and Jean

It all started with a simple phrase: “That’s my Scott and Jean.”(phrase means, essentially, “That is my geek sacred cow, the one topic I cannot discuss rationally because it makes me too insane/angry/scary-eyed.”)

WOW! and WOW?

What geek aspect do I treasure so much that I can’t rationally discuss?

I tend to disregard things I don’t agree with…

  • Highlander 2
  • Batman & Robin
  • Pryor’s Place – Though the idea of a coked up comedian entertaining kids is a great idea.
  • The Smurfs last season. They really didn’t care and had pretty much sold out at this point.

And then I thought about Watchmen. I really thought a movie would hurt it. I thought it would take away from the original story. I was wrong.

Part of this decision came from the fact, I quit being so critical of things I loved as a kid. I try to watch with an open mind and think about someone watching for the first time. Recently I watched Next-Avengers. I am a fan of the Animated Marvel studios. This was a story not in continuity and I loved it. Good story and just enough nerd reference for me to geek out about.  Sorry OT.

Batman Returns may just be my Jean and Scott. I love that movie. I love that Michael Keaton is Batman. I love that the Penguin has penguins as pallbearers. I love that Michelle Pfeiffer licks her leather costume. I love that after falling out a window, Selina Kyle evolves into Catwoman from an army of cats walking on top of her.
Christopher FUCKING Walken!
A team of criminals that work in a traveling circus? Smell that? That is the smell of AWESOME!
It’s all ridiculous but I love it and won’t argue any point.
