Poppa
Lori’s dad got out of surgery ok last night. The doc didn’t have good news.
He had 95% blockage and the stints from 3 years ago looked bad. He replaced them but said his heart is still operating at 35% with no realy hope of improvement.
He may have had more heart attacks that he was aware of because of the damage to his heart.
No matter what news this guy had Lori tried to drag something positive out but the doc just kinda gave her that looks of “This is it.”
2 weeks he’ll get a pacemaker with a difibulator in it to help his heart.
He’s supposed to take it as easy as possible.
He needs to completely change his diet, which has only gotten worse in the last year.
The nurse called it a “Cardiac Diet”.
Both Lori and I had little to no relationship with our real fathers. Poppa always filled that void. I only really got to know him in the time he lived with us.
Lori always jokes that I’m his favorite son. While he’s is partial to Lori, he always wanted a good relationship with her brother Steve. Since I listen and talked with him, he always appreciated that.
It’s odd how we form relationships with those that need them when they have those that refuse them.
